How to Cut Stave Serving Tray Handles to Length
Batch Size: 42 9.5''x13'' boards
Time Standard: 15 minutes
Use the stave serving tray handle blank to set up the stop block to make 13" cuts.
NOTE: Make sure the handle blank is flush to the table saw blade and the table saw fence.
Grab a 1x8 pine board and place flush to fence and stop block.
Cut board.
NOTE: A lot of boards are warped(crooked); make sure to have the "belly" side align to the saw fence to avoid kickback.
Check that cuts are actually turning out to be 13'' ; If boards are to short or long, adjust stop block accordingly.
NOTE: Boards that are longer should be trimmed down to size as they will not fit on the CNC jig. you should aim boards to be 13" but they are still usable if they come out about 1/8'', if boards are too short they can become loose when they are getting CNC'd.
TIP: If the miter saw is getting stuck often. there is a chance that the wood is moving because it is not siting flush to the fence because of the wood being warped.
One way to deal with this issue is to switch from doing one cut all the way through to instead doing 3 cuts.
Pull the saw all the way forward and cut down; Then pull the saw out, move it so that the the next cut will cut about half of the remaining wood; Repeat this one more time to complete the rest of the cut. it will total to 3 cuts; it will be slightly slower at first but as you get the hang of it it should be equally as fast.
