Batch Production Basics
All standard products at Pinecone Home are produced in batches.
When work begins, a batch gets a pre-printed Batch ID attached to a clipboard that accompanies it throughout all subsequent steps.
The first step in the process for each bath is indicated with an ✅ on Trello.
Tasks that exist outside of the batch tracking process are indicated with a ❌ on Trello.
It is important to keep batches separate from each other so we can accurately track progress.
Generally, a batch quantity can fit in a single crate. If it cannot, write "1/n", where "n" is the total number of crates used to contain the batch on the Batch ID label. Write the next number in the sequence a Multi Crate Batch ID label, put that extra labels with the extra crates.
Example: Wine Staves cut to length generally take two crates to contain. The Batch ID label should get "1/2" written on it, and the extra Multi Crate Batch ID Label should get "2/2" written on the label and kept with the second crate of staves.
If a batch needs to be removed from a crate for some reason, keep it one to a shelf, one cart, one table, or some other method so we can easily distinguish which batch is which.
Each Trello task represents a single step in the batch process, and should get WIP Form submission for each step in the process.
Tasks that have a ❌ on them in Trello do not need a WIP Form submission.
Once a batch has made it through the production process it needs to be accepted by the end users of the parts or products using the Accepted Batch Form
